1. Who we are

Cooperative Manager (the “Platform”) is operated by Mavi Global Consult Limited (RC 8374551), 5 Edhoruno Street, Oleh, Delta State, Nigeria (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@jomavi.co.uk or +234 806 144 9117.

2. How this policy works

The Platform is used by cooperative societies to manage their members. Where a cooperative uses the Platform, that cooperative decides what member information is collected and how it is used — it is the data controller for its members’ records, and we process that information on its behalf. We are the data controller for information we collect directly, such as account credentials and usage data.

This policy is issued under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

3. Information we collect

  • Account and profile — your name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a cryptographic hash), profile image, notification preferences, and your role in your cooperative.
  • Identity verification — where your cooperative enables it: your legal name, date of birth, and National Identification Number (NIN) and/or Bank Verification Number (BVN). NIN and BVN are encrypted at rest and are never displayed in full; only the last four digits are shown for review. We record your consent at the time you submit them.
  • Financial records — contributions, loan applications and repayments, guarantor relationships, withdrawals, dividends, locked savings, bank account details used for payouts, and any payment receipts you upload.
  • Technical and usage data — sign-in events, session and device information, IP address, pages visited, and error diagnostics. Analytics and error reports are stripped of identifiers — including NIN, BVN, phone numbers and account numbers — before they leave our systems.
  • Communications — records of the emails and text messages we send you, including delivery status.

4. Why we use your information

  • To provide the Platform and your cooperative’s services to you
  • To verify identity where your cooperative requires it, and to help prevent fraud
  • To process subscription payments and member payments
  • To send the notifications you have opted into
  • To maintain the audit records cooperatives are required to keep
  • To secure the Platform, diagnose faults, and improve reliability

We rely on the following lawful bases: performance of a contract; your consent (for identity information and for your email and SMS notification preferences, which you may withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Platform; and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Who we share it with

Your cooperative. Administrators and treasurers of your cooperative can see the records relevant to their role.

Service providers who process information on our instructions:

  • Paystack — payment processing and, where enabled, identity verification
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Termii — text message delivery
  • Cloudflare — storage of uploaded receipts
  • PostHog — product analytics and error monitoring, stripped of identifiers
  • Neon and Vercel — database and application hosting

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information where the law requires it or to protect our rights.

6. Transfers outside Nigeria

Some of the providers above process information outside Nigeria. Where that happens we rely on the provider’s contractual data protection commitments and on the transfer conditions permitted under the NDPA.

7. How we protect your information

Passwords are stored as hashes, never in readable form. NIN and BVN are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Access is restricted by role, and administrative actions taken against a member record are written to an audit log. Two-factor authentication is available on your account. Traffic between your device and the Platform is encrypted in transit.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your records for as long as you are a member of a cooperative using the Platform, and afterwards for as long as that cooperative is required to retain them for statutory, audit, or regulatory purposes. Identity information is kept only for as long as it is needed for verification and record-keeping obligations.

9. Your rights

Under the NDPA you may ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable form, or object to our using it. You may withdraw consent at any time — including by turning off email or SMS notifications in your account settings.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@jomavi.co.uk or speak to your cooperative’s administrator. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

10. Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to secure your session. We also use analytics cookies to understand how the Platform is used; these do not identify you personally.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Where changes are significant we will make them known through the Platform. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
